A Foggy Sunday Visit to “Project Universal UK” — Construction Update

This Sunday morning greeted us with a thick, cinematic fog as we arrived at the future site of Universal Studios UK. The mist rolled across the landscape, softening the edges of machinery and steel, and giving the whole place an almost otherworldly atmosphere. Perfect weather for a themed park someday—less perfect for construction workers, perhaps, but certainly memorable.

As we made our way over the site, we immediately noticed the lineup of diggers and heavy machinery neatly parked on the concrete slab. Everything looked secure, orderly, and ready for action—just not today. The fog added a dramatic touch, but it also made the stillness even more noticeable.

One thing did catch our eye, though:
The Wazinator 1000—the legendary concrete crusher that has become something of a mascot for this stage of the project—was nowhere to be seen.

Has it completed its titan-sized task and moved on to its next adventure?
All signs suggest yes. The great crusher appears to have finished its part in preparing the site and has likely been relocated.

The most exciting visible progress comes from the access roadway. Constructed from crushed concrete, this newly formed pathway stretches toward the landslip area and is now well advanced in its build stage. Each visit shows noticeable improvement, and it’s clear that teams have been pushing steadily forward here.

With the roadway nearing usability, we’re expecting active work on shoring up the landslip to begin within the next month or so.

As for the core zone?
Still silent. Still untouched.
Week after week, this central area remains in a holding pattern. No machinery, no workers, no new materials arriving. For now, it’s exactly as expected: dormant while other foundational work takes priority.

Despite the quiet moments, progress is happening. Key groundwork is nearing completion, the landslip access is almost ready, and one of the most crucial (and noisy) machines has wrapped up its task.

Foggy though it was, today’s visit gave us a clear picture of where things stand.
