Wixams residents form campaign group to push for the town’s 1999 masterplan vision

Residents in Wixams have launched a new campaign group calling for the town to return to the original vision set out in the 1999 masterplan. Concerns have been raised over infrastructure falling behind housing growth, with locals pointing out that despite around 3,000 homes now being built or occupied, the town still has no GP surgery. The group also says the future impact of Universal Studios UK on Wixams has not yet been fully recognised, particularly with the new railway station expected to become a major gateway into the resort area. Concerns around increased Airbnb and short-term accommodation use have also been raised as the development continues to move forward.
