Terms of use
The rules for using Project Universal’s reporting, community features, installed app, alerts and related services, written for visitors in the United Kingdom and Europe.
Use the service lawfully and check important information
Project Universal is an independent editorial and community service. Its content is provided for general information, not as professional advice or an official statement from Universal, government, a planning authority or a transport body.
When these terms apply
Using Project Universal
These terms apply when you visit the website, install or use the progressive web app (PWA), create an account, comment, contribute an article, subscribe to email or push alerts, use an embedded player, or buy a product if the store is available. If you do not agree, do not use the affected feature.
Who may use it
You must have legal capacity to agree to these terms. Anyone under 18 should use the service with a parent or guardian, and a purchase must be made by an adult or with the permission and supervision of one.
Reporting, guides and aerial material
Articles, guides, maps, photographs, videos, podcasts, timelines and trackers may combine primary documents, first-hand observation, analysis and clearly identified speculation.
Information can change
Construction, planning, transport, opening, employment, pricing and attraction details can change after publication. Dates are included where practical, but no item is promised to be complete, current or error-free. Check the latest official source before relying on it.
No professional advice
Nothing on the service is legal, financial, investment, planning, travel, employment, aviation, health, safety or other professional advice. Maps are for orientation and are not suitable for navigation, land access, boundary or operational decisions.
Drone content and RAMS
Aerial imagery does not grant permission to fly from, enter or cross any location. The generic RAMS material is not a site-specific assessment, operating authorisation or assurance that another person’s flight is lawful or safe. Operators remain responsible for current aviation law, airspace, land access and conditions.
Your account and contributions
Keep access secure
You are responsible for accurate registration information, safeguarding sign-in details and activity performed through your account. Tell Project Universal promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
Only submit content you may use
You retain ownership of your words and media. By submitting them, you grant Project Universal a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, format, display, moderate and distribute them as needed to operate, archive and promote the service. The licence ends when the content is deleted, except for lawful records, backups and material already shared by others.
Keep contributions lawful and civil
Do not post illegal, defamatory, threatening, harassing, hateful, deceptive, privacy-invasive or infringing material; spam, impersonation, malicious code, undisclosed advertising or content that exposes personal or security-sensitive information.
Moderation protects the service
Project Universal may review, hold, label, edit for presentation, restrict or remove contributions and may warn, suspend or close accounts where reasonably considered necessary for safety, accuracy, legal compliance, security or community integrity. There is no obligation to pre-screen every submission.
If you believe content is illegal, infringes your rights or has been moderated contrary to these terms, provide the URL and relevant details through the contact page. Nothing here removes a right to seek a remedy available under applicable law.
Optional features and device delivery
Installed app
Installing the PWA is optional. Compatibility, cached pages and offline availability vary by device and browser. Cached content may be incomplete or older than the live website. You can uninstall the app or clear its stored data through your device or browser.
Push notifications
Alerts require device permission and an active push subscription. Delivery may be delayed, duplicated or fail because of a browser, device, network or push provider. Never rely on a Project Universal notification for an emergency, safety warning or deadline.
Email updates
Email updates are optional and may be filtered or delayed by a provider. You may unsubscribe using the link provided or your account controls. Disabling email does not disable separately authorised push notifications, and vice versa.
External links, embeds and accommodation
Third-party services
Spotify, YouTube, social networks, payment providers and other linked or embedded services are operated by third parties under their own terms. A link or embed does not amount to an endorsement, guarantee or control of their content, availability, security or data handling.
Stay Near Universal
Accommodation cards and links may lead to Stay Near Universal or another provider. Project Universal is not the accommodation owner, booking agent or party to a resulting reservation. Check the provider’s description, price, availability, cancellation terms and suitability before booking. Queries and claims about a stay belong with the relevant provider.
Store, payment and digital downloads
Store terms shown with a product or at checkout form part of these terms and take priority for that transaction where they are more specific.
Orders and payment
An order is an offer to buy and is accepted only when confirmed. Prices, availability and descriptions may be corrected before acceptance. Payment may be handled by Stripe or another disclosed processor; Project Universal does not receive your full card details.
Digital content
A download or licence is personal and subject to any stated usage limits. Where immediate supply begins after your express consent and acknowledgement, the statutory cancellation right may end once supply starts. This does not remove remedies for faulty or misdescribed content.
Consumer protection
Nothing in these terms reduces mandatory rights relating to conformity, refunds, repair, replacement, price reduction or cancellation under the law that applies to you. Contact Project Universal promptly with an order reference if something is wrong.
What may be reused
Project Universal material
Unless credited otherwise, original text, photography, video, audio, graphics, branding and site design belong to Project Universal or its contributors. You may link to pages and make limited lawful quotations with clear attribution. Bulk copying, scraping, republishing, resale or removal of credits requires prior written permission unless the law permits it.
Third-party names and marks
Universal, Universal Studios, Comcast, NBCUniversal and other names, logos, characters and marks belong to their respective owners. Their descriptive use does not imply sponsorship, approval or affiliation. Credited third-party material remains subject to its owner’s rights.
Availability, reliance and liability
The free editorial service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Project Universal gives no guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, secure, compatible, complete, accurate or suitable for a particular purpose. Features, accounts and content may be changed, suspended or withdrawn without guaranteeing notice.
You are responsible for how you use the information and for protecting your device, data and account. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Project Universal is not liable for losses caused by reliance on general information; inaccurate or outdated third-party information; user submissions; external sites, bookings or services; device, network or provider failures; events outside reasonable control; or losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you began using the service.
Project Universal is not liable for business losses—including loss of profit, revenue, opportunity, goodwill or business data—arising from consumer use. If you use the service for business purposes, all implied warranties are excluded so far as lawful and Project Universal is not liable for indirect or consequential loss. For a paid business transaction, aggregate liability relating to that transaction will not exceed the amount paid for the affected item, unless the law requires otherwise.
These exclusions do not apply to death or personal injury caused by negligence; fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; mandatory consumer rights; or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Nothing in these terms asks a consumer to waive a legal remedy that UK or applicable European law says must remain available.
Data, cookies and prohibited use
Your information
Personal data is handled as described in the privacy policy. Cookies, local storage, PWA caching, push subscriptions and optional analytics are explained in the cookies and device storage notice. Those notices form part of the service information but do not reduce rights granted by data-protection law.
Do not attack or misuse the service
You must not attempt unauthorised access, probe or bypass security, overload the service, introduce malware, automate abusive requests, harvest personal data, manipulate engagement, evade restrictions or use Project Universal for unlawful, fraudulent or misleading activity.
Changes, governing law and your local rights
Changes to the terms
Terms may be updated when the service, providers or law changes. The review date identifies the current version. Material changes apply prospectively and do not remove rights or remedies that arose before the change.
England and Wales
These terms and non-contractual disputes are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, subject to the consumer protections below.
UK and European consumers
If you are a consumer elsewhere in the UK, EEA or another jurisdiction, you retain any mandatory protection and right to bring proceedings in your home courts that local law does not permit these terms to remove.
