Over the next few weeks, Broadmead Road is set to see a series of major changes as part of early enabling works for the Universal Destinations & Experiences UK project — and this goes far beyond typical roadworks.

The plans focus on highway improvements around the railway level crossing, along with the creation of two new access points into the site (serving the West Gateway and Core Zone), plus some realignment of the road between Woburn Road and the Core Zone access. This is essentially the groundwork for how traffic will eventually flow in and out of the resort.

🚧 Here’s what to expect:

April 20 – May 22: Broadmead Road closed between Woburn Road junction and Hansons Reach roundabout
Temporary traffic lights at Woburn Road junction
Diversions in place via Green Lane (including the 68 bus)
May 15 (8pm) – May 18 (5am): Full closure of Woburn Road
Speed limit reduced to 30mph along Broadmead Road during the works

The works cover the full length of Broadmead Road and are being carried out under a permit issued by Bedford Borough Council, confirming this is all part of the planned development process.

It may bring some short-term disruption, but this is a big step behind the scenes — we’re now seeing the infrastructure being put in place for the future resort.
