A closer look at what’s happening on the future Wixams station site…
These photos show the newly created access route through the woodland on the western side of the Midland Main Line. Contractors have started clearing a route into the site, allowing vehicles and equipment access for the next phase of survey work. Survey markers can now also be seen appearing throughout the wooded area.
It might not look like much at the moment, but this is exactly the sort of early activity you’d expect before the detailed design and planning process gathers pace.
When complete, this will be the main railway station serving the Universal United Kingdom Resort, as well as the growing town of Wixams, providing direct access from London St Pancras and the wider Midland Main Line.
The post adds: 'I’ll continue keeping a close eye on this area as work progresses.'
