Signs of utility work at Manor Road houses prompt speculation over demolition preparations

Observer says activity around properties could indicate disconnection of electricity, gas, water and telecoms ahead of changes linked to Universal plans and the new Wixams station

There’s been some interesting activity around the houses on Manor Road, and while I can’t say for certain what’s happening, it certainly looks to me as though work may now be taking place on the services connected to the properties.

Now, this is very much an educated guess rather than something I can confirm — but thinking about it logically, it would make complete sense.

If the houses are getting closer to demolition, the various services supplying them would need to be safely disconnected before that could happen. Electricity, gas, water, telecoms and anything else serving the properties would all have to be dealt with as part of preparing the area.

We already know from the Universal plans that Manor Road is going to see significant changes as the wider resort and transport infrastructure develops, including its relationship with the new Wixams station, shuttle connections and the future road arrangements in this area.

So could what we’re seeing now be another small piece of preparation for those bigger changes?

But if that IS what they’re doing, it could be a pretty good indication that things are starting to move towards the next stage for these properties.

Definitely another little area to keep watching over the coming days and weeks!
