When will we actually see the theme park being built?
This is probably the question I get asked more than any other.
The simple answer is… likely during the second half of 2027.
At the moment it might not look like much is happening, but there’s actually a huge amount of work that has to be completed before a single ride or building starts to appear. Right now we’re seeing exactly what the planning documents suggested we would. The teams are carrying out archaeology, relocating protected wildlife, clearing vegetation, creating access roads, stripping topsoil and preparing the site. If you’ve been following the page, you’ll have seen most of this happening over the past few months.
The next major phase is the enabling works and earthworks. That’s where we’ll see massive amounts of soil being moved, the site reshaped, drainage installed, new watercourses created, berms built, and the whole area prepared for construction. It isn’t the exciting part that makes the headlines, but it’s absolutely essential before any buildings can go up.
Only after all of that groundwork is complete do the planning documents indicate we’ll begin to see the main resort construction gathering pace, which is currently shown as beginning around the latter half of 2027.
One important thing to remember though… this timeline is only indicative. The planning documents themselves make it clear that the sequencing and dates were not submitted for approval and could change. That said, comparing what’s happening on site today with the published phasing plan, they do appear to be running broadly in line with it at the moment.
So while we all can’t wait to see roller coasters, hotels and themed buildings rising out of the ground, there’s still plenty of fascinating engineering to come before we get to that stage.
