One of the more surprising things I’ve noticed recently is what’s happening to the topsoil from the Core Zone.
Excavators are loading it into Collins tipper trucks, which then make the two-mile journey to the Wixams landfill site before returning for another load. It’s a constant flow throughout the day, with truck after truck making the same trip.
I’ll admit, I thought at least some of this good-quality topsoil would have been kept on site for future landscaping and planting. Instead, it appears to be heading off to help fill the landfill site a couple of miles away.
Whether that’s because the soil isn’t suitable for the resort, because it will be replaced with imported material later on, or simply part of the earthworks strategy, it’ll be interesting to see how the landscaping develops over the coming years.
Have you noticed just how busy this operation has become recently?
