New figures point to 20,000 peak construction roles, 8,000 permanent jobs and billions in investment — with most staff expected to come from Bedfordshire and nearby areas.
The latest Universal United Kingdom Resort media factsheet for June 2026 has now been published and it's packed with some interesting figures. 🔹 Nearly £50 billion in projected direct and indirect economic benefit to the UK. 🔹 Around 20,000 jobs expected during peak construction, with 5,000+ workers on site. 🔹 Around 8,000 permanent jobs once the resort opens. 🔹 Universal says it has already received expressions of interest from more than 33,000 people wanting to work on the project. 🔹 Approximately 80% of employees are expected to come from Bedfordshire and the surrounding area. 🔹 More than £5 billion will be invested during construction, with a further £1 billion planned over the first 10 years of operation. 🔹 The resort is expected to become one of the highest-attended attractions in Europe, attracting millions of visitors every year. One figure that really caught my eye was the 33,000+ people who have already expressed an interest in working on the project. That's a huge number considering we're still years away from opening. Which statistic surprised you the most? Or which one do you think will have the biggest impact on Bedford and the surrounding area? The full factsheet is available on the official Universal project website. I've linked it in the comments below. 👇
