Now that’s a big bit of kit!

A new machine has been spotted in the Lake Zone at Universal United Kingdom Resort.

A gap in the weather gave me a chance to get the drone up this evening, just in time to catch this big beauty in the golden-hour sunshine.

It’s a Wirtgen soil stabiliser, sporting EnviroTrac branding. Underneath, a large rotating drum churns up the soil and mixes in lime or cement to help strengthen the ground before it’s compacted. Basically, making a firmer base for the work ahead.

And judging by the queue behind it, the rollers are keen to get their turn! The wider photo shows them lined up, ready to compact the ground once it’s been treated.

We’ve had the flumpers queuing for a fill-up, and now we’ve got the rollers waiting for a roll. Everyone’s taking their turn!

Has anyone here operated one of these stabilisers? I’d be interested to hear what they’re like.
