Progress is becoming much more visible around the future Wixams railway station site.
These latest aerial photos show extensive vegetation clearance taking place between the Midland Main Line and Ampthill Road, helping to open up access ahead of construction, which is currently due to begin in 2027.
While it's always a little sad to see established trees and vegetation removed, it's worth remembering the bigger picture. This station will become a major transport hub for the area, improving rail connections for thousands of people and playing an important role in supporting the wider growth of Wixams and, of course, the future Universal United Kingdom Resort.
It's interesting to see just how much access has already been created through the woodland, with new tracks leading in and out of the site. There's also 24-hour security now in place, showing the area is already being actively managed ahead of the main construction phase.
For anyone wondering where this is, the site sits between the railway and Ampthill Road, just over a kilometre from the Universal concrete slab.
It's still early days, and we haven't yet seen the detailed station construction plans, but the groundwork is clearly gathering pace.
